Tailgate Adventures was developed to educate and entertain the public in regards to hound and tree dog hunting activities. Although there is a lot of great outdoor television on the networks these days, there appears to be a sizeable gap in the coverage of hound hunting. From the Northeast to the Southwest and everywhere in between, there are a whole lot of people using tree dogs and hounds to hunt everything from raccoon and squirrel to hogs, bear, mountain lions and many other game. Many of us enjoy the shows covering deer, turkey and other game hunts, but we would also like to be able to kick-back relax and tree a few coon from the comforts of our own living rooms!

Our goal is to increase the coverage, of the wonderful tradition of chasing and treeing game. Our mission is to provide an entertaining and educational format that provides insights into how to breed, raise, and train these hearty dogs, as well as hunting coverage of different types of game spanning the different states. This should not only provide enjoyment for the hunters and general public, but also provide a commercial avenue to market and further develop the goods and services used in these sports.

There are a lot of great people in our sport, with a lot of great stories, and we want to help share those stories and promote the future of our sport.

History

Many people do not realize that the dogs we hunt are part of a history of tracking and chasing prey that dates back to Egyptian times and continues through the European fox hunts of the 1500s, to modern day hounds and tree dogs. In fact many of today’s hound breeds share bloodlines with the early fox hounds of England. The modern houndsman not only shares a rich heritage, but is also part of a very professional sport involving bench shows, field trials, and competition hunts. These activities are governed by several kennel clubs and associations, proving pedigreed registration, DNA profiling, championship degrees and in many cases large cash earnings to those who are successful.
